So now the Hephtalites are also an offshoot of the Xiong Nu. Unlike their cousins who went west into Europe, they head south. But they had their heyday like a century after the European Huns. Maybe after the Huns lost their place in Europe, they went back into the Steppes and joined their cousins. The steppes is such an interesting place. It such a harsh landscape, yet the people it produces are the greatest warriors of the past.

The Kings and Generals Channel is doing an awesome job with the Steppe Nomads.

Here they go over the Gokturks. And they seem to confirming my notion that all the conquering steppe nomads are coming from the east.

What really fascinates me is the vid says the Gokturks are originally blacksmith slaves. That makes me think, they were kidnapped from settle peoples and brought up to the steppe to be workers.
