What parts of the Bible, if any, do you feel are most historically accurate?

So in Genesis, for example, you're saying that a snake literally spoke and told a naked woman to take a fruit from a literal tree?

It's okay if you say the answer is yes. I was just making sure that is what you meant.

Almost none of them. Some may have some basis in reality, i.e. real people/places, but I doubt that much of it happened as the authors claimed.

Noetsi....this is a history forum, not a theological forum. There is a theological oriented forum available:
http://www.city-data.com/forum/religion-philosophy/

Please post your ahistorical assertions there. This forum is dedicated to evidence based history, not "revealed" history.

This board would discuss things such as the historical basis for the flood story, whether or not the Hebrew enslavement in Egypt can be affirmed...that sort of thing.

"I believe every word of the Bible"....does not belong in this forum.

Unless of course you have historical evidence to back up each and every claim made by the Bible.

If not....please respect the format.

Okay?

And I'm thinking this entire thread belongs in religion& philosophy...that is if it goes the way I'm thinking it might...

Most of the old testament history (excepting the parts that ought to be taken as metaphorical) seem to be fairly accurate, in a sense.

For example. There was a city of Sodom. It fell down. I suppose who gets credit comes down to how much you're willing to take on faith.

On second thought, I know EXACTLY where this thread is going...
The bible/koran/or any other religious writings and discussion there of belongs in R&P. So please feel free to post in that Forum. Thread Closed.
