I'm descended from both Clan Douglas (motto "Jamais Arriere"/"Never Behind") and Clan MacDougall (motto "Buaidh no bas"/"Conquer or Die").

I've been unable to find ancestors in Scotland so far, but I'm in contact with another genealogist who may have cracked the Douglas line. I'm stuck on MacDougall in Canada with no records before 1850 or so.

I have Gordon, MacKay, MacLaren, and Cameron blood running through my veins with a fair amount of English, Irish, and Welsh thrown in for good measure. My mother says I am Irish enough to have a quick temper, Scottish enough to hold a grudge, and Welsh enough to laugh about it later.
