Definitely not a poor man's hobby if you like the good ones! With great cigars coming from the Dominican Republic and Central America, do Americans really need Cuban cigars?

Not a classy-man's hobby, either. Gross. I'll take the smell of burning Kero any day.

I only smoke Cuban cigars, but I live in Canada. Nothing beats a dram of Bowmore 12 year single malt and a Partagas No.4 Series 'D' following a nice steak dinner!
I could never figure out how to smoke them big cigars, as a long time cigarette smoker i was used to taking a puff and inhaling the smoke to get the nicotine hit, with the larger cigars i could never quite get the feeling of drawing the smoke into the lungs, it was like sucking air, friends said Jim you arent supposed to inhale the cigar smoke but savour the flavour taste like smoking old burnt carpet to me,i was just into it for the nicotine .
.in my last couple of years of smoking i did switch to Swisher Sweet Cigarillos that i found quite satisfying but ultimately the price in conjunction with high taxes led to continued use of nicotine delivery systems on a daily basis out of my price range. A pack of 5 cigarillos went to over $10 and i was smoking 2 packs a day, cigarettes are currently in the $12 a pack range, here in Montreal.
For any cigar aficionados , if you are traveling down I-95 in NC stop in to JR's , Amazing place http://www.jrselma.com/index.cfm?page=cigar
Both my wife and I enjoy cigars. She has her own humidor, and mine are in a "wineador" (those into the hobby will understand what this is) with custom cedar shelves.
Last winter we turned one of our spare rooms into a cigar lounge. We probably have 3-5 cigars a week. Yes, we are into it.
My favorites are pretty much the entire Drew Estates Liga Privada lineup.. #9, T52, Feral Pig, UF13, Dirty Rat, and MUWAT.
Also a huge fan of Arturo Fuente's Anejo line, pretty much any of the vitola's but the best out of that one is the #77 "shark"
Illusione also has a killer lineup, MJ12, CG14, "88" and #2 are awesome.
And lastly , if you can get them the La Flor Dominican Airbender Maduro
On occasion , usually when I'm on vacation I will enjoy an Arturo Fuente Opus X , I've got a decent stash of them that I only smoke on special occasions.
The wife likes the Drew Estates Acid lineup, Kuba Maduro , Tabak , Java and the Romeo Y Julieta "Romeo"
We Usually pair our cigars with Bourbon, Rum or in the winter a nice tawny Port.
