I've just started to learn to crochet again. I haven't done it since I was a child and even then it was very basic stitches. Luckily I found a good book and some online videos to help me.
I love to do woodwork. My DW will show me a picture of something she would like to have and I make one for her. It makes her happy, so it makes me happy to see her happy.
Philosophy, programming and hacking (when I'm not being paid for it), linguistics, literature, watching the world move (aka economics), and wasting time in online chat / forums. I also used to be into weightlifting, but nowadays lifting my own stomach is challenging enough...
I'm addicted to diecast toy collecting; mostly trucks busses and fire apparatus. Wife and I love to travel but haven't been anywhere in the past few years...sigh. We also love fine foods. I have always loved photography but haven't had much time for that lately, either. And I also enjoy C-D and listening to music.
Ever since I learned to crochet when I was nine, I have been fascinated by yarn. So now I make my own - I have two spinning wheels, a drum carder, hand carders, and dyeing equipment. I process raw wool into yarns.
My hobby, and business,(besides fishing, camping, hiking....) is mold making for cement statues. I got into it years ago when a friend of mine told me their business had bought some molds to pour statues and sell them at their business. I could not believe how much they paid, so I thought I would give it a try. I read everything, seen all the videos, and basically just gave it a try. I have always been good at making things so it was just natural. Now years later, I have a business selling molds on and off Ebay. I also sell statues which I pour and paint. The statues are great because they are a high profit item. I pour them for pennies, and sell for $20-$40 average price, but of course they differ on size.
