OP, it is really difficult to say without knowing the size of your kitchen, the existing style/theme that you currently have in your kitchen and a larger image of the rug. If possible, post pics of your kitchen and I think you will get more feedback.

There is no wrong. It's your house, your style, your comfort level, and your enjoyment.
Do whatever you want. If you think it looks bad, don't do it. If you like it, do it. At the very least, you can put up the art and live with it a couple of days and see what you think.
It might help the other posters here if you put up the art and took a picture of the whole room.
I couldn't view the rug either but from the small thumbnail I do not think the two work together. Choose which one is your inspiration and go from there.
