This is a rug I got for my kitchen...floral

Then I saw these paintings..circles

Can they go in the same room?

I really don't know and am willing to change one or the other.

I don't like them together. What else do you have for the room so we can determine which to keep and which to put somewhere else?

Exactly.....also, how large is the room, what is its shape?
Hard to offer advice based from 2 pictures.

OP, it is really difficult to say without knowing the size of your kitchen, the existing style/theme that you currently have in your kitchen and a larger image of the rug. If possible, post pics of your kitchen and I think you will get more feedback.

Op, it only matters what you think.

I fell into the paralyzing trap of not wanting to break rules or look stupid by decorating my house 'wrong.'

There is no wrong. It's your house, your style, your comfort level, and your enjoyment.

Do whatever you want. If you think it looks bad, don't do it. If you like it, do it. At the very least, you can put up the art and live with it a couple of days and see what you think.

It might help the other posters here if you put up the art and took a picture of the whole room.

I couldn't view the rug either but from the small thumbnail I do not think the two work together. Choose which one is your inspiration and go from there.
