Looks like yellow is going to be a popular color in home interiors for 2014. I am a big fan of soft yellows, but dislike bright shades of it. For some reason, yellow is something that people either hate or love. What are your feelings on using yellow in the home?
I didn't know people hated yellow. How can anyone hate yellow? It's such a happy color. That being said, my bedroom is yellow and I think the shade if off a little. Either that or it's the CFL bulbs. I've noticed that those walls in particular really change color depending on the lighting. I prefer a brighter yellow over pale yellow and nothing that looks "yellowed." I'm happy to see some more color in home interiors. It's been pretty drab for a number of years.
Yellow is more or less a feminine liking color. It seems to be a favorite for kitchens and bathrooms. My wife just had the kitchen painted in a very subdued pale yellow color and it doesn't look too bad.
I love yellow. When I was a kid one of my friends had a formal living room done in yellow and white and I always loved it. It's a great exterior color too, with dark green shutters and white trim.
I'm planning on using a very pale buttermilk yellow in my bedroom, have the test patch painted on the wall but still trying to decide if its really the right colour. Usually I go with much bolder colours but this room is north facing and on the small side. We'll see.
