"How about you forget about what the current trend is and get what you like?"

Like yeah!

And I have to agree with "chrome looks cheap"- at least in most cases. There are some fixtures that look better in chrome than other finishes.

So called "Brushed Nickel" has to be THE cheapest looking finish out there right now- oh wait, because it is!!! It takes less manufacturing time to produce that finish than any "polished" finish!

"True" polished nickel is awesome. It has this certain "richness" to it that chrome doesn't have. Then there's those that can't tell the difference.

I see nothing wrong with ORB- it's a COLOR, and it works well with traditional, transitional, and contemporary styling- trending or not!

But there truly is one UBERGAUDY- 22k plated fixtures. And if you can't tell the difference between those and polished brass, well...

We remodeled two bathrooms and a kitchen and I used chrome in the kitchen and master bath and brushed nickel in the guest bath. I like chrome, it will never be out of style. Cheap faucets look cheap, the finish has nothing to do with it. The same people will say vinyl flooring looks "cheap", carpet looks "cheap", etc. It doesn't really, it's just them projecting something Choose what you like, it's not hard to change out a faucet if someone wants to down the road.

I agree. I think chrome looks really cheap. Brushed nickel and stainless steel look nice and don't show water spots as much as chrome. I like the dark bronze fixtures as well if they match the kitchen.
