Better Homes and Gardens Style Spotters Decorating Blog

I know, I know, our houses are ours alone and current styles are a non issue--at least with some of you who post here.

However, it is pretty hard to decorate with a color that is out of style, because you can't find anything to match or contrast properly with it. At any rate, these shots show rooms with dark green in them. I don't know if this is a bellwether, but I thought it interesting enough to link to. I rather like the glossy green tile. I can take or leave the green kitchen.

As I have posted here many times, I own a hunter green wing back chair. It is going nowhere. It is nice to think it might be sort of stylish now, after all these years.

I like BHG Style Spotters. I have it in my Feedly list.

Oh lordy.

I am simply not a "hunter green" sort of person. Out of all the beautiful greens out there, this particular one comes across as too dark and cold for my personal taste. I realize that's only my opinion, but I'm a bit tired of what I think of as cold colors - grays and icy blues and now hunter green. I want some barn red, deep blue with a hint of green in it, mustard yellow, orange, rich Hershey brown, deep creams, gold, brass, russet - those colors.

Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but that whole 1990s hunter green/navy blue/burgundy thing really grated on my last nerve, even then. NOT AGAIN!!!!!

Now maybe hunter green with a mustard yellow, or a rich aubergine balanced with a creamy white and a punch of tangerine - that might look good. In other words, I hope to heck they (whoever "they" are") start pairing it up with colors other than navy and burgundy.

I didn't like hunter green the first time around, so again I am not liking it.

Along those lines though, I recently saw a library on Houzz that was GAWJUS and it was in a dark hunter greenish color. I mean, they called it Hunter Green but I actually think it has too much blue in it to be the Hunter Green I recall. But maybe that's why I like it - LOL.

How exciting - run to the thrift stores and grab all the hunter green stuff that's out there!

I missed the hunter green phase of the 90s. I leaned more toward celadon, with terra cotta and apricot.

I've always liked hunter green. I've gone more toward sage lately.

The only thing good imo regarding hunter green and the ususal maroon companion is that you are already half way decorated for Christmas.

I tried to paint the little study next to the master bedroom that color but it came out more Kermit the Frog green.
