We are moving in a few weeks and after years of doing my laundry in the "dungeon" of my current 115 year old house, I am finally going to have a beautiful first floor laundry mudroom. I am so excited! However, I do have to buy appliances. Do any of you have any recommendations for a washer and dryer? I have no preference for front load vs. top load, however they cannot have pedestals because of cabinets above the space.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Ours are front load Bosch. We've had them for about 5 years and they are great. The only thing we've noticed is that certain types of tops require being turned inside out or they pill.

We had LG frontloader set and generally liked it, but the dryer needed repeat repairs. Now, we've got a Samsung set that we bought from a neighbor who was relocating out-of-state. So far, they are great.

Thank you everyone. I will look into Samsung and Bosch. That's a good start.

This is just like anything else it is all about what you prefer you are the only one who can really choose.

Some will tell you that the brand they have is perfect, other will tell you that same brand is junk.

If you have washer and dryer already why do you "have" to get new ones?

We are not moving our old washer and dryer when we move. They are old and not very good.

I have a Samsung front loader set and like it. Before that (prior house), I had Frigidaire Affinity and I think I liked those even better. But I did not have the pedestals with that set, and now that I have them, I would never have a front loader without them. It really is pretty low to bend over and transfer wet clothes. How much clearance do you have under the cabinets? Maybe you can custom build a platform that isn't as high as the pedestals, but which would keep you from having to bend down quite so far.

Or you could look at the new high efficiency top loaders without an agitator - they are basically a front loader turned in another direction. I haven't used one so I don't know how well they work.

We've had LG front loaders and love them. Not a single problem to report and they clean very well.

Sadly, Bosch no longer sells full-sized washers and dryers in the USA.
