The old worn out recliner we have was a 2 position one - without rocker - and it seems they make very few of them now. Everything we have seen in our local furniture stores is a "rocker/recliner. This is so frustrating that we may just settle for a plain old chair. Does anyone know of a brand that makes "just the recliner" ? Not interested in leather one.

La-Z-Boy makes several styles that are recliner only and not a rocker. Lane also makes a few styles. Have you seen the new "wing-back" recliners? Very comfortable and very nice looking without the traditional "bulk" of an old style recliner.

This a La_Z-Boy model is a wing-back recliner. I really don't care for the color in this photo, but I do like the style. (La-Z-Boy Kimberly Recliner)

This one is the Lane version I have (different color though). It is actually quite comfortable even for me at 6'2" and 225#. Bought it for my wife, and I think I sit in it more than she does. (Lane Heathgate Hi-Leg recliner)

I know America's Mattress and Furniture on Broadway in Bangor and Merrill Furniture in Elsworth caries both Lane and La-Z-Boy. (I think America's Mattress is also The Furniture Gallery if I remember right.)

Yes, I was going to also suggest Laz Z boy recliners. We have had one for a number of years now (a non-rocker!) and it has held up very well and still looks great!

Thank you for the suggestions. I tend to want to check out the Lane as I have heard people complain about the Lazy-Boy and were not satisfied with the follow-up when they had problems with Lazy-Boy. I especially like the style of the legs on the Lane that you pictured. I have other furniture with that style leg.

I have 2 Lazy Boy recliners (without rocking) since the late 1990's and have held up great.

I 've been through 2 relocation's and had minor damage-due to moving which the moving company fixed.
I love them. Favorite seat in the house.

Well, for what it's worth and this is just one perspnal experience, I think we had a Lane and for us, the La Z Boy has proved to be much more durable than the Lane.

i love wingback recliners!!! sooo comfy. I actually bought a couple on craigslist for $25. I planned on reupholstering them (its actually not hard, and worth the money and time if that's your thing), but ended up moving last month and was trying to lighten my load.I may actually try to find a couple more, though.
