Hey guys... need your thoughts (preferrably from other Civic owners)..
I leased a 2003 Honda Civic LX for 48 mths paying $153 per month.
Then in 2007 I leased a Honda Civic LX for 36 months paying $239 a month because I was over on the mileage on the 03' and they rolled it into the new payments.
The car is up in March(4 mths). I just went to dealership and they said $310 per month for the 2010 Civic LX for 30 months...which includes; the 7000 miles I'm over, the 4 remaining payments, and the minor damage to the bumper.
I got them down to $279 a month, 12k miles, 30 months + they will give me $2100 back at signing. The 30 month lease they claim is a "special" for this month only and if I extend the lease terms it'll cost more per month. LOL
Wondering what you're paying for your Civic and if you think this is a good deal. Essentially I'm paying $17,400 for the car.
We bought the 2004 Civic DX, for around $13,000 plus tax. It was 1.9% financed. Great car for cheap. Why not buy? I guess I don't understand the desire to lease. Is it that you can drive a new car every few years? We pay our cars off and then drive the wheels off of them until they're dead.

Hey Tetto. How are you? Without dragging this topic into reasoning I'd thought I'd just throw out to you that...if I drove cars until the wheels fell off, I'd still be rolling up windows with my hands. LOL
But seriously.. I drove a 1993 Toyota Tercel up until last year when I sold it for $1000. And I have a 2003 Corolla thats paid off I'm still driving.
My object is to have 1 new, 1 old. Plus paying double per month just to own is not happening now a days.
My reasoning few years ago was that when I went to get a loan for a property, the bank rather see a $7000 car loan then a $16,000.

Haha, you read me like a book. There's nothing wrong with a little exercise while driving (roll, roll, roll...!).
As far as the bank loan, my credit rating is 805, so loans aren't a problem!!
Good luck keeping that baby under your allotted mileage...
I do not lease but as I understand it, you negoiate the car price just like when you are buying. Leasing is really just a form of financing. When I bought my last car I read the information on carbuyingtips.com. It saved me thousands and gave me the confidence to negoiate a good deal. I think it could help you too. One thing to realize is that manufacturers list price and dealers invoice are NOT what the dealer pays for the car. They get money back from the car maker for every car sold. Check Edmunds.com for what people are paying for the car you are interested in too. The more information you have the better. I also hate to say it but NEVER believe what a dealer tells you. They are out to get as much money from you as possible. I hate to sound so cynical but after years of buying cars and knowing a few car salesmen I have found this to be true. Good luck, Jay
You consider a 2003 Corolla old? They are widely consdiered one of the most generic and reliable cars on the planet. I can't fathom why you feel compelled to carry two registrations, two insurances, and maintenance on two rides just becuase you think the 2003 is old. Invest in a triple A membership if you are nevous...

Greenwich gave me a deal. $259/mth. 15k miles. 30 months. $1500 out of pocket.
Keep in mind. HONDA SPECIAL $199/MTH FOR A 30 MONTH LEASE FOR CIVIC.
Bought our 2006 Civic from Liberty Honda in August 06 for $15,500 excl. taxes, but that was cash.
