I get my floors cleaned once a month by a cleaning service and they use steam to clean them. There haven't been any ill effects that I've noticed; they look as good as new after years of the same cleaning routine.

If I clean the floors myself, I usually use murphy's oil soap. My husband and I will do it together; one of us washes, the other follows and dries. I've never had any problems doing it that way, either. I like the smell of Murphy's as a bonus.

I use Murphys Soap as well on my hardwood floors. Smells so fresh and clean and the floors look nice too. I do not drench my floors though, just damp mop.

This is worth a read.
And they don't advise using murphys oil soap.

Totally agree - Bona is the BEST! http://www.bona.com/en-US/

I purchased the entire system - micro-fiber mop (which you can wash in the washing machine) and the dispenser. http://www.mybonahome.com/products/h...floor-mop.html You can refill the dispenser too.

I have tried the vinegar and water method and the floors look great right afterwards but it leaves a slight film.
