I have been blessed with something new outside my kitchen window.
A robin has built her nest in a tree a few feet from my deck!
I can see the nest perfectly.
I am pretty sure she laid her eggs yesterday, Saturday. She is no longer leaving the nest for hours at a time.....she is staying put except for very short jaunts.
It is going to be fun to watch, but nerve wracking at the same time.
I am going to have to start mowing around that tree in about two weeks.....I hope I don't scare her and her babies.
Last Tuesday mama robin stopped sitting on the nest.....and yesterday I found a piece of an egg shell across the yard by the fence.

Mine is better than it has been in the past.. (our neighbors kitchen window.)
When building this joint I dug the basement, and set the forms, but before pouring footings I set a ladder up to simulate standing at the Kitchen sink,
GOOD thing, as I needed to change a few things, add a window and rotate the whole house.
I was worth the effort. Been gazing at this for 17 yrs, NO obstructions, Mtn view ~ 50-100 miles... National Scenic Area.
New to me TX house has 180 degree hilltop view of the Hill Country from Kitchen sink. Sunrise and sunset are GREAT. (and much more frequent than PNW house... 285days / yr of rain or overcast). https://www.google.com/search?q=hill...w=1089&bih=507
I spend a lot of time at the kitchen sink... I'm a 'super slow' dishwasher...
My MOM had the BEST. Ridge vew of 3 ranges of foothills and 6 cities. (Rocky Mtn front range and Lake from other windows,,,)
I look out at the community arena. You can't get more iconic than seeing the late-day sun streaming through the dust whipped up by cowboys and their horses, and watching the ropes twirl and swing through the air. We move a lot and are soon moving on from here, but I'm thankful that I've got to witness a piece of the 'real' romanticized West for a little bit.

Looking out the window we can see the block wall fence that seperates our lot from the neighbors lot. The fence is only 5 and a half feet tall so we can also see the neighbors sliding glass door, the boat door for the garage, and the top of the patio cover. Between the west wall of the house and our fence is about 5 feet of space.
My kitchen window looks out onto the copse of live oaks in the back corner of my backyard. It makes for good bird and squirrel watching when washing dishes.
