Hello all,

I happened to notice a drop of water under one of the jets in the tub this afternoon. The tub was dry, so it was odd to see water there. I checked and realized there was a very slow leak under the jet itself. Not coming out from the nozzle but from the outside area. This tub was installed in 1990, so it doesn't surprise me that anything can go wrong with it by now, but is there any reason why water would drip INTO the tub from one of the jets? I've seen it drip out of the nozzle itself after filling the tub to clean it in the past, but have never seen it drip from around the outside perimeter of it.

My worry is, is anything dripping on the other side of the jet? Also, would this fall under the repair of a plumber or do I need to look for a whirlpool specialist only? How difficult would it be to repair this?

My tub was installed in the 1990s, and the tub brand is Aker Whirlpool. The jets are in crusty shape, I've tried to clean it, but gave up and just use the hand shower and never fill the tub for a bath. Had meant to update that bath, but other house woes drained me. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

- Grace

Replacement nozzle/bezels are available and they come with new washers. It's a fairly easy DIY project following the directions- or you can hire a plumber to do it.

Sorry my response is super late! But thanks much for your comment. I was glad it wasn't a, oh no your tub is now doomed situation. Now to look for jets from the early 90s..
