We had the drain coming from the roof replaced this summer by the same folks that repaved our driveway. I keep seeing a small streak of water that seems to come from where the asphalt meets the PVC pipe. Any idea where this water is coming from? Thanks in advance.
Also you can take a paper towel and place it on the ceiling above that spot, that will help you notice wetness which is hard to see. Place a paper towel around the pipe to see if water is traveling down the side of the pipe.
Certain things like A/C have condensation drain pipes which could be draining up on the roof.
Another possibility (if no wetness found looking up) is the pipe is clogged and leaking from under the pavement. Or something else is leaking below the pavement and finding its way up between the pavement and pipe.
For water leaks, turn off all water in house, don't flush toilets, etc. Read your water meter. Wait 30 minutes or an hour, then go see if the water meter still has the same reading. For slow leaks, might want to do that if you will be away for the day.
With some water leaks, you can place your ear on a faucet and hear a "hissing" sound. The sound gets louder as you get closer to the leak. Might hear nothing further away from the leak.
That's a great close up, please post a picture of that whole side of the building that includes the pipe and area in question. Also, how close is the bibb/shut off valve for that hose? If its close, disconnect that and get it out of that area for a while and see if that valve may be leaking...its just an easy to remove potential water source.
Check the drain pipe /system termination-is it draining properly? Its possible that there may be leakage or seeping at a below grade joint or pipe below the asphalt and the water is emanating at the area you are observing: sometimes below grade drain pipe joints are not glued and may leak if the pipe is full of water, possibly the same with a joint above the asphalt.
It's either condensation from the surface of the pipe, or ground water coming up.
