I am allergic to fragrances so I too boil fruit on the stove, it's great. I also have a little candle holder with a small pot on it that I light in different rooms after the fruit is boiled. I think it's o a potpourri burner. Can get an electric one too.

Apple cores and peelings with cinnamon and cloves
Orange peels and cloves
Peaches and vanilla
And, fresh flowers

But Nothing covers up dirt and dark interiors, so make sure it's all good and clean, aired out and sunny first.

I find cleaning things with vinegar has a tendency to get rid of a lot of smells. I spray my kitchen counter and sink with a dilution of vinegar, pine-sol and water, wipe it and let it dry. Cheap and effective. I use the same in my washroom for counter top, sink and toilet.

You have to shake the spray bottle before using it, as the pine-sol has a tendency to rise to the top.

Smart and more should follow, these things should be off the supermarket shelves.

I really like that smell a lot. I don't wait for Christmas to combine cloves and oranges. I like to stud fresh oranges with whole cloves any time of year and put them in an attractive bowl.

Mop the floor with a combo of water, white vinegar, lemon juice and a squirt of dish soap.

Odors have sources. Look for them. Trash can, litter box, pantry, under sinks, drains, washer, laundry, ..... Open all windows and give your place a good airing out even if a/c is on (or turn it off for an hour).

Make sure the house is clean and dusted/vacuumed and your dogs are clean and the trash is taken out often (minimum every night) and open windows whenever it's a nice day. Clip flowers from your yard - my mother likes to have her roses in her kitchen. You can smell them from a mile away. Just fresh. Or have houseplants that have nice scents.

My friend also puts fabric softener sheets in some ac vents (not all - just some - and not the return vents).

Softener sheets are hazardous to health.. please tell her not to use them in the house ..or should I say ask... for her own sake..https://branchbasics.com/blog/2015/0...ric-softeners/

Yes. I've mentioned this to her and she persists. Her business.

On another note, this thread has inspired me to buy a lemon tree.
