Is there a way to take out the black flap part of the disposal to clean it , it feels really slimy underneath , I clean the disposal itself with the usual stuff to pore down but I'd like to pull out that black flap thingie

No but when replacing you can get the type of disposal that this piece comes out. It's called a removable sound barrier or removable splash guard. You can then pop them in the dishwasher and also order replacements. To clean what you currently have use a toothbrush with some soap on it until it dies and you need a new one https://cdn2.tmbi.com/TFH/Projects/F..._STINKY_01.JPG

Wow thank you , one that comes out , makes sense , I felt at the underneath of this one couldn't believe what was under just one of the flaps , a toothbrush ..good idea thank you .
Yes, these gaskets are replaceable as they will rot out or get nasty after awhile. There are videos out there on how to do it. But you take the disposal off the mount, pop on a new one, and remount it.
This was pretty informative, I cleaned ours not to long ago and it's a nasty mess again, but it is original to the home so after 16 years it probably needs a replacement.

In our old place, I would wad a couple of paper towels around my hand and douse liberally with soap or disinfectant. Then keep wiping and rinsinsing the paper towel until no more black, slimy crud came off. This was a rental so once I got it clean, I would do this once a month to maintain so it wouldn't get so grossly bad.
Now that we own a house, we have the pop out and damn (!) much, much nicer and easier to clean.
