how about something in the red/brown family? or white? the cream would blend in with the siding
I second this sentiment. Cream? No way.. it's a waste of tome, and money, unless you repaint the whole house.
I like going either dark.. like maroon, or espresso, or light, like white or ivory, or pale yellow.
.... checking on door again.......
... after looking at the door, I think white or pale yellow gives a little zip.. and do the garage doors the same.
Hi there! Our shutters are a bit washed out/faded looking. I want to have them painted to brighten up the house more. I'd love to paint the entire house but it's not in our budget right now. So I'm thinking painting the shutters could add a little bit of brightness to it? Can anyone recommend a color that will go with the rest of the house? And do you think we should add the garage doors too? Since they are a brown? or is that not needed for it to match?
Choose a nice bluey green for shutters and your front doors. Paint your garage doors the same as your siding. Garage doors aren’t features; you don’t need to highlight them. Rather paint them to blend in.
The green will complement the reds in your brickwork. A grayed blue green should work well.
How about brick red shutters and a cream colored door ? I have always liked that color combination , my kitchen is brick red and cream with a chef motif and it comes out really nice . I have gotten several compliments on it from guests and visitors alike .
You don't want a bright color since the taupe is a dusty color. It would make it look dull/dirty. Sage Green is a dusty color, but it would give the house freshness without making the existing siding look dull.
Don't paint the garage doors the same color as the siding. It will just look like a giant block of taupe. At least the dark brown breaks up the mass.

I prefer garage doors facing street to blend in to the siding color.
With brick I really like a dark green almost black color.
Park bench green. I learned that from This Old House.
