I don't like the way wood/pergo flooring sounds when walking on it, nor am I impressed by its durability or ability to take moisture. A combination of ceramic/porcelain tile and carpet is my preference. I'd take vinyl plank flooring over wood or pergo also. The only advantage it has is looks, beyond that there are better options for pretty much every area in a house.

Wood look tile offers the best of both worlds by combining the natural aesthetic of wood with the durability and low maintenance of tile.

Could be, but I will add one thing. When I moved in 2022 I knew I was going to do a remodel on the house that I purchased. I cannot believe after being so absolutely positively 100% wood floors, to the point not that engineered stuff, I wanted old-fashioned strip oak floors….

I got luxury vinyl plank. I got a really good brand called CoreTech. It’s got a cork backing so it’s not cold or slippery. I even had the Pergo taken out of my quilt room and this flooring put there too. I did my whole upstairs and downstairs in this. I absolutely love it and have no regrets. Kitchen cabinets are still natural Cherry so I got the wood in there somewhere.

Curious, does the wood look tile chip? We have Italian tile that we put in 23 years ago, that was popular then. It still looks pretty good but there are chips in the kitchen area. We have enough extra in the garage that those tiles could be replaced when time to sell. At this stage , I am not eager to put LVT over it or have it jack hammered out.
