I just had the natural gas furnace igniter replaced on an emergency basis.
I have paid the bill with no paper work from company.I was wondering what the igniter might cost.
The furnace is 100,000 BTU 31 years old, label says high effeciency, has run fine.
Probably have to think about replacing it.

Thank you for reply, when the tech left he had igniter in hand ,very small, took about 1/2-3/4 hour to replace, the module which makes 3 tests on use showed red led,the repair book said trouble to igniter.
They had to get it from out of state.
The Sunday Out of service chrg. $276 and install chrg.$308,what ticked me off was on the bill they had a charge which said late charge fee $4.55.
I paid $276 when it came in,early Feb. and now 3/7 received the new bill, told them off to say the least.
In the paper work it showed the igniter getting replaced with no date.
The heat chamber looks fine and blower works fine,so still wonder if I shoud replace it???
I heated house with Buddy Heater with a 20 LB tank, which for safety is a no,no,kept the house at 70 degree's with no trouble.

Ignitor replacement is simple DIY job. Plenty of Youtube videos on that. I had it done twice to my furnace, to the tune of the part cost only.

We finally replaced furnace as, I had inspection on it done and, they found cracks inside the heat chamber. I could feel them with my hand, when slid inside the chamber.

Is the igniter universal?Where do you buy it and did you have to make adjustments?
How old was your furnace and what BTU,mine is 100.000 BTU and 31 years old. What was the cost?
