Has anybody installed a floating hardwood floor on top of a ceramic tile floor? If so, was anything different from the standard installation required?

My sunroom is a step down so I won't have to worry about it not being uneven with an adjoining room.

I would say no way no how dont do it. Can anything be hurt by it? Probably not but it's just not the right way to do it. Of course that dont stop people from doing the wrong things. Every day on here you have people paiinting cabinets, painting paneling, painting over wall paper and so on.

Go rent an electric hammer and you could get that old tile floor up in a couple hours.

It can certainly be done but its the easy way. Very seldom does the "easy way" coincide with the "right way" and I can honestly say I have never regretted doing anything around the house "right". Similarly, my probability of later dissatisfaction approaches a value of 1 as the course of action to the resolution of a project approaches "easy".

Is this work you want to do yourself or is a sub telling you this is how its done? I would want to tear the tile out and build a subfloor. Much better, more permanent fix.
