The upstairs is blowing- I feel the air blowing- the thingamabob outside (can't think of the name) is operating, but no cold air. I did notice that there's no water being pumped out.
I hear its the compressor, but hopefully it's something else. Is there a few other checks I can do before I call the rapis- I mean the HVAC guy?
you may have a clogged line if no water is dripping out. I put a wet vac over the drain pipe and suck the gunk out every few months. You may have to put your hands over the vacuum to get the suction though. Found out the hard way after upstairs unit backed up and have a service call at 10pm at night.
I have an a/c unit not cooling. I set the temp @ 80 degrees but the temp inside house is @ 84 and stays like that all day. A/C unit keeps running for hours nonstop. It can never get to temp I set it at.

Thanks!
You may simply have low freon and need to charge your system. If no water is coming out of the drip line your coils could be frozen. This is a total shot in the dark but you may want to try running your A/C on "Fan Only" for a few hours (like 4 or 5), then set the selector back to "Cool" to see if the performance is any better. Either way, you will need the HVAC guys to come charge the system - should be about an $80 visit.
Thanks for the responses, I'll try your suggestions.
I don't know if this is related- but I do hear a clicking noise in the compressor unit. Compared to my downstairs, which is kicking out fine, it does have a click noise. Does that indicate anything?

What type of filters are you using? Also are the coils possibly clogged. The outside may be clogged with grass from mowing.

The compressor unit runs- but there's a clicking sound in the background that's not present in the downstairs unit. They sit side by side on the side of the house, and all things being the same, there's a click noise in the upstairs- a slight click like something is rubbing against the fan as it turns.
Sounds like a valve is sticking in the compressor or the contactor is chattering. Both need to be checked out as both will be more expensive if not addressed soon. When it cranks up is there a loud "eeerrrggggg" (high stress sound) type noise and after it runs for a few minutes it goes away?
