Mine is mixed use. I have a 2-car garage and I park both my SUV and truck in it, but I do also use about 20% of it for storage, mainly yard tools. I also keep a small workbench in it with a miter saw on it.
I have a 3 car garage. The two car is split between lawn tools and my car. The other garage is for storage for now. If I can convince my wife, I would like it to store a golf cart/Harley Davidson. LOL!
2 car garage...one side my work car, the other my sports car...I do have a shoe rack in my garage as I store the shoes I work to work daily in the garage so I don't wear stilettos on the hardwood floor.
I use mine for both, parking and storage. My husband has a section for his woodworking; lawn equipment; and sports stuff. My daughter has a section with all her toys/chalkboards, etc. I have one little spot with my file cabinets. In essence it's becoming that room in the house where everything goes when I can't stand it inside anymore Oh did I mention it triples as the laundry room also
I'm seriously thinking about just converting it to an additional part of our living space. My husbands against it and would prefer to add on to the back of the house, since our back yard is enormous. We have yet to come to a mutual decision!

FWIW, I'm with your husband on this one, for resale value if nothing else.
Good Luck with your decision.
We have a two car garage so one side is for a car (my van) and the other side has the lawn tractor, extra fridge, garbage cans, and lots and lots of kids' junk - bikes, jeep, wagons, strollers etc.
I keep the garage pretty organized though because all that junk can easily start creeping over to the car side.

Ooo there is idea of what I could do with my shoes lol.
I dont know why I become attach especially when I dont wear them anymore but I remember the good life they did give and think they might have another life or need.
I need to organize my garage to be more functional but with a storage building it a toss up where lawn stuff goes.
