my mom wants me to clean her tarnished silverware for the holidays
I usually wipe this paste let it try then wipe off the paste
but the siverware cups punch bowl, tea jar has this detail the paste gets caught in and is hard to get out. Is there another method besides polishing cream ?

Patience, little one. I think your Mom may have had a lesson in her assignment.

There's this stuff you can get called silver wadding. It comes in a can and it is some kind of cloth impregnated with silver cleaner. It works really well, and it probably won't get stuck in the tight crevices of your silverware.

Big non-metallic bowl of warm water, wadded up aluminum foil, salt. Add salt to the water, insert the foil and silverware.

Here is a more complete description that uses baking soda instead of salt: Cleaning SILVER WITHOUT losing the Ag!

I love the zen of polishing silver.

The best way to make sure that silver doesn't tarnish? Use it daily.

Life is too short to use stainless. Pull out the linen, the silver and the china on a daily basis. Seriously.

Me too Plaidmom....I love polishing....brought out quite a bit of it yesterday....my favorite is the Charter Oak pattern - I'm attempting to accumulate placesettings for 12...it is one of my favorites - silverplate not sterling.

I've tried the aluminum dip - it was okay but not great - I did not get the high shine that only a good paste polish and elbow grease can give.
