NO for numerous reasons.

First off, I'm used to a certain level of comfort/living. Granted, I'm not a money waster but at the same time, I live (or make a legitimate effort to) as frugally as I can without being uncomfortable. At the same time, I like living in a city that draws good shows and has different sides and cultures to it. I've traveled to other cities (San Fran, New York, Atlanta) and while they're all nice and they all have their advantages, after living in Houston for so long, it'd be hard for me to move somewhere else and keep living at the lifestyle that I live.

In addition, I'll be graduating soon (from law school) and while Houston certainly isn't immune from the rest of the country's problems, it's somewhat better insulated from them than other major cities (Detroit, Chicago, Miami). Economically, I feel safe here in Houston.

Finally, Houston is my home. I've lived here my entire life. I'm not an isolationist, I've traveled to other places for extended period of times but I'm always excited to return to Houston. Now, I realize that Houston isn't home to everybody on this forum BUT it is MY home and it will always have a comfortable, familiar place in my heart.

LOVE YOU H-TOWN!

I've lived and worked in lot of places, some of which most people would think ideal, like France, Switzerland, German. Greece, Scotland and England. And guess what? I want to live here--not in any of these other places. I actually like being too hot!

Unless I was rich, in which case money was no object, and I could live well off in any city, then I would move, but I like it here, and even though I don't live in Houston proper, I do enjoy the area, and am hoping to live in Houston later in my life.

You mean like if I had a million bajillion dollars and I didn't have to find work or worry about whether I was going to eat or have a dry place to lay my head wherever I went?

I wouldn't "move" anywhere. No, I'd just go travel the world...

....and come back to Houston in between trips.

If I lived there, I would be very happy. Not many places I would choose over your great city

It all depends so for me I vote Yes and No. In reality no I do not want to leave. We left for two years and were eagerly waiting to come "home". We love it here but if hubby could work anywhere we would love to move to the burbs somewhere in ATL to be closer to fam but no too close or even to NC. NC is soooo pretty! We were wanting to one day have a place in Perdido Key but well we all see how that is playing out.
What I do not like about Houston is the air quality. My kiddos both have asthma and this is one of the worst places to be. Also would like a milder summer but use to it with growing up in the south.

If I could move, I would go somewhere that it isn't 100 degrees in the summer, but also not snowing in the winter. It would have to be a place with a high need for technical people, so small towns in the middle of nowhere are not an option. I don't care for a lot of things in California or Florida, so those are not options. Wide open skies and clean air would be nice. Also, this imaginary place must be somewhat diverse as I don't want to be the only mixed person living in it. So, is there any such place?

Why would anyone want to leave a place filled with a plethora of opportunities?

Great answers folks.....just the type I was looking for. A&M, Houston doesn't offer EVERYONE a "plethora of opportunities", some areas it's limited and some it is overwhelming.
I really enjoy Houston, but I can see myself leaving in a year or so. My main buzz with Houston is this weather and humidity. Being asthmatic, this humidity kills me on some days. Thank god for air-conditioning!!!!!
