Hello! I'm moving to Texas at the end of this week and I was wondering what areas around Galveston is a good safe place for 29 year old female who will be alone. I will be working in Galveston but I don't think I want to live on that part. So my questions are..
1. Would it be silly for me to live in Houston and drive to Galveston.
2. I like the city life...and I need shopping, bars, and good places to eat near by.
3. Where is the best place to get a nice furnished month to month apartment (1,000 budget and 1 bedroom).

Thanks soo much!

Yes it's too far to live in the center of Houston. Traffic will do you in. Try league city or clear lake. It's a decent split between Galveston work and going into Houston for nightlife etc.

Don't think you'll find anything furnished in that area and if you do it won't be $1k a month.

Maybe you should be looking for a different employer.

I'm thinking you'll want to be ITL, and that won't work with a Galveston job.

You could bite the bullet and live close to Galveston for a while why you try to find a job that will allow you to live close to the city.

I'm going to be a traveling speech therapist so I am given a decent amount for rent. How much is a reasonable nice 1 bedroom apt that is furnished? And I want to live alone.

Are you going to be staying in a hotel for a while? I don't see how anyone can move to a different state and just start asking for information on where to live three days prior. Maybe you don't have a household full of furniture and belongings to move. Best of luck to you.

Commuting into Houston from Galveston would be a little like commuting into Pittsburgh from Steubenville, Ohio. It's not something you want to do on an everyday basis.

Are you settling in there for the long haul, or is this just a temporary work assignment?

Look at clears lake or league city. Lots of new apt complexes in 96 aka league city parkway.
