So sad...I had no idea he had Alzheimer's.

Great classic Uncle Waldo video found there too. Love it!

Rest in peace Mark! You made mornings bearable for me for many, many years...certainly helped in me making it to school on time!

I had an ex gf who's grandpa had this disease. And let me say that if I am ever diagnosed with it I'll end my life before I get to the point of no return.

This is a horrible horrible disease.

With that said I remember listening to them as a child and young teenager. I loved it.

I wonder if that is why they initially left the airwaves? I know that the last couple of years, he was really quite sedate and didn't contribute as much verbally as Pruett did. It never occurred to me that perhaps he was in the beginnings of this awful disease.

No matter what comes your way, your life is too precious to take it away.

From what I've read it was a money issue. The laws changed on radio station ownership and KLOL became part of a big corporation (Clear Channel I think), and Stevens had a huge salary which met with corporate budget chopping. They never were able to find anybody to take his place, and after a few tries at reviving the show with Pruitt and some of the other characters they just killed it.

(grins)

Remember "Let's play FREEWAY ROULETTE!!!" Jim Bob, what freeway will we do today?" "Well, uh, ah thank we shud do tha.....SOUTHWEST! SOUTHWEST FREEWAY!" "All Right, Freeway Roulette on the Southwest Freeway!!! Are you ready? Here we go! If you're listening to the show, stick your arm out the window and wave!" (and all up and down the freeway---which was basically at a standstill, then) you'd see people sticking their arms out and waving). "ALL BLONDES, SIGNAL RIGHT, MERGE LEFT!!!" and so forth......

Good times.

(to the tune of the Hallelujah Chorus) "Stevens and Pruett! Stevens and Pruett! In the Mornings! In the Mornings! on K U L F!!!"

I saw something recently that said he had been working locally in the oil/natgas industry, but had been laid off.

Does anybody know what happened to the News Muchacha, Martha Martinez?
