I think the Arbor Gate in Tomball is worth the drive if you ever in the market for a persimmon tree. It is beautiful, and they have people there who are well versed in the field. They even offer classes, etc. I make the drive once a month and have never been disappointed.

There are 2 types of persimmons at Asian markets -- one that you can eat crisp, and the other you have to wait until it is super ripe, soft and smushy. If you eat the 2nd type before it gets super ripe, it tastes really bad, and leaves a very bitter aftertaste in your mouth. Ask before you buy.

The Asian stores also sell dried persimmons. These are especially popular around the Lunar new year, and are delicious!

I'm from Clear Lake. Most Asian food market would have persimons.
I was at the Vietnamse market on Scardale (My Quang) yesterday and I saw plently of them but they're not the greatest, freshtest. There is another Asian market across the street called Hong Kong 2, they should have them. It's about 10 min drive from Clear Lake.

Super thanks! We sometimes go to a restaurant right next to My Quang so I know where that area is!

Yes, that is possible. There are many variety of persimmons. Although, if you can take a picture of the tree and fruit and post it here, we can probably give you a more definite answer.
