We're invited to the wedding of my husband's old boss's son, I don't really want to go bc I won't know anyone and the few people my husband will know are from his old job. So anyway, we're invited- how much $$ would be appropriate to give if 1) we go 2) we don't go....?

1) Nothing
2) Nothing

Give them a nice congratulations card with a note stating that you have taken their wedding gift money and have given it to a local food pantry in their name. Let them know you are helping them to fight hunger and the effects of this economy on many children whose parents now don't have jobs.

Strange to be invited to your bosses sons wedding unless you are friendly with your boss outside of work. I would give between $50-$100.

it seems like your husband must still have a good relationship for the old boss to invite him to his son's wedding. I guess it will depend on your budget...check to see if they have a gift registry and get a gift from their list. If you still decide on cash, I would say no less than $60. If your husband is really good friends with him, perhaps around $100.

This would be a nice thing only if they request specifically no gifts. I would get them a gift or cash.

It depends. If he's your old boss from a former legitimate job (i.e. oil industry, medical etc.) I'd say 50 to 100 should do the trick. Now, if your old boss's name is Antonio "Double Talk" Scolari or something of this nature, I would suggest no less than 2 bills in the shirt pocket of the groom and an envelope with at least 5 bills. Hand it to the bride as you kiss her on the cheek and tell the couple, "It's a little something to get ya started."
