Someone explain how the test is considered to be racially unfair. I know a distant relative who is an HPD officer - as a kid I would see him study for the advancement exams and I remember picking up those books and looking through them -- they were books, nothing racial in them. So after watching one study for months to better himself, I strongly believe that the one who scores the highest should get the advancement position - fair is fair - there should be nothing racial in that decision. It was (at least then) based on hard work, studying, and intelligence and nothing more or less. I can only guess that the HFD exams are very similar.

When did this forum become so racially charged? I'm sure we are scaring the heck out of any potential tourists checking out the forum to find out more about Houston. Scanning the topics you'd think this city was full of racial tension.

Is there data to prove this? I read a bunch. And, have filed suit a couple of times. Never have heard anything that states blacks file suit more than any other group.

The group that tends to file the most lawsuits (some lawsuits are just and right but not that many) tend to be of any ethnicity but tend to be those who have grown up with some false sense of entitlement or those who never learned that their own actions and decisions strongly influence the outcome of their lives ... you know the type -- nothing is ever their fault, it is always someone else's fault or a particular situation that caused things to not work out for them or for them to get injured or to fail. Just like those who don't get promoted blame the test itself versus looking to see what they could have done better or improved upon.

Sh*ite actually being white in this country kind of sucks...and you don't get jack for free, no college grants no nothing. Shall we really start doing the math? I think the "I am black" and I am being put down by anything that moves really needs to stop. We all people and that all it matters.
