In the former Angelika space in downtown.

Only other Sundance locations in the US are San Francisco and Madison, WI.

That is indeed a great development. One of only three niche theaters. Looking forward to it!

I didn't go to the Angelika very often because of the location. I really wish it was somewhere in West Houston. I really hate going downtown.

Location may be it's downfall though.

With the growth in Midtown, I think the area can support it.

I don't think it is. People did make the trip from far away. I think the problem will be continuing to show movies that will draw crowds. Angelika showed blockbusters like Batman when they released, so I wonder if Sundance will stick strictly to art house. Angelika's problem was with the landlord and not with sales. Working the box office there was absolutely insane sometimes. Hopefully they'll still continue to validate parking tickets.
