I went with Potentia Energy with a 12 month lock in for 8.7 cents per kWh 2 months ago. Just go with the cheapest you can find for what you need.

No one has 8.7 right now for 12 months?

Do you think 12 months would be a good decision also to lock in?

I wouldn't lock in for 12 months. By this time next year, you'd be still looking at similar spring/summer rates. It's best to lock in 12/24 months during the winter season. Normally, that's when the rates are at the lowest.

If there's a 6-month or 9-month rate, you may chose one of these. By the time this contract is over, you'd be in the winter season where the rates are lower.

Wow...that is really expensive electricity. Can someone share what a typical July/August electric bill is when A/C usage is highest? Does Texas offer incentives to installing solar?

Reliant has a 6 month for 9.0.

Compare to other states yes but everything else is a lot cheaper in Houston.

the highway toll is 35 cents in NJ

I currently live in Southeast Tennessee and my KwH charge is more, it is about 12cents per, but I don't use as much here due to the climate difference.
