Hello!

New to Houston - in fact, never been there (or to Texas for that matter). My husband is interviewing for a job there, so there is a possibility we will be moving. I know Houston in a HUGE city, and since I know nothing about it, I thought I would get input from all of you.

We are a young family of four with school-aged children. I don't think we will buy right away, because I want to get a feel for the area. So, what are some decent/safe neighborhoods to rent in that have good schools?

What does the average rent run for a 3-4 bedroom home/townhome/apartment?

Any other advice you want to offer?

You can practically pick any spot in Houston and there will be a good neighborhood somewhere. It all depends on where he ends up working and your price range.

NW = Cypress - Cy Fair ISD
Mid North = Woodlands = Conroe ISD
NE = Kingwood
West = Cinco Ranch / Katy = Katy ISD
SW = Sugarland
Mid South = Pearland
SE = Not Sure MOstly industrial

but there are tons more of places, just depends on the budget.

Okay, I have no idea where this is in relation to anything, but he is interviewing with Surveying and Mapping, Inc

Here is the address:
16770 Imperial Valley
Suite 115
Houston, Texas 77060

On the map it shows it's near an area called Aldine??? If that helps.

For rental price range we are looking for $900-1000 to start off with.

So, I guess right now we are looking for a rental home in a good neighborhood where I feel like I can send my kids out to play, within a good school district and not too far of a commute for hubby.

You probably want to look in Spring or the Woodlands. Good communities and schools. Imperial Valley not desirable to live around there.

Kingwood to the NE - or the Klein school district to the west of 77060. You never mentioned a budget - so I didn't mention The Woodlands.

Budget is too low for a house or townhouse in TW or Kingwood so it would have to be an apartment.
