I was reading this website (trying to cure my boredom) and this is what I found:

Which makes me wonder if the opening of the Westin is one more step in Memorial City's plan to challenge the Galleria. They've already added The Cheesecake Factory, and rumors are swirling that Memorial City is trying to nab H&M and Neiman Marcus, which has been absent from the tony west side since the closure of the former Town & Country Mall location in 2006.
Galleria West? The Westin Houston Memorial City adds oomph to the westside skyline - 2011-Mar-25 - CultureMap Houston

Have you guys heard about this?

It was built in the most populated West side of Houston almost 2 years ago - so, yes, most Houstonians & their dawgs (no pun intended) have seen this sad excuse for modern architecture.

I think that building looks nice.

I noticed that the construction walls around it are now displaying an "open air" mall concept ala CityCentre. There's not a lot of space there...seems a rather congested idea.

It would be interesting if NM moved into Memorial City, but it doesn't seems a great fit. Weird to give up the now more prime location in CityCentre of Mem. City. <shrug>

neiman's probably doesn't fit but an H&M would be great!

Neimans should have never left the CityCentre area. They would be making a killing there most likely. H&M sounds good for Memorial City. It's like now, CityCentre is the classy place and Memorial City is where all the teens hang out.

By looking at the mall's store directory, Neiman Marcus is too upscale for the mall unless the mall become similar to the Perimeter Mall in Atlanta. Then I can see fit for a NM.

No it isn't (look at the demographics of the area).

I was speaking on the mall (agreeing with another poster). I've read you guys' posts about that area being upscale; from that, I'm surprised MCM isn't more upscale that what it is (I'm going by the store directory).

When I think of Memorial area, I think upscale. When I think of H&M, I think of "Europe's Old Navy".
