So I've been looking around the net, come across calculators and this and that.

What's your personal experience with one or the other.
My wife wants to get an Electric one.

However I've always had gas and haven't had any issues and don't feel any damage on the wallet from the gas bill.

I'm afraid the electric one will end up costing more in the long run.

Your thought?

Buying: Samsung models , Steam Version, Front Load, New House, 3 Loads Per Week (just wife and I for now), gas and electric connections are both available.

Assuming you have a gas line in already, then gas is cheaper in the long run. If not, and you have to pay to have a gas line run, then go electric.

I cruise the deal sites regularly and remembered seeing this posted..

Lowe's Samsung Steam Washer and Steam Dryer $899 Wednesday 11/16/11 after 10% movers coupon - Slickdeals.net

The Samsung models you were looking at will be $899 on 11/16.

electric is good for me because i rarely use the dryer anyway. horrible inefficient machines even the energy star ones. i have a few foldable racks that fit in my laundry room that i use and a retractable line outside. gas appliance you need to regularly check to make sure they aren't leaking because that could kill you or blow up your house. most people don't regularly have their gas lines checked

read more about the steam dryers. i have heard nothing but bad reviews about them

Gas is cheaper but makes me paranoid about gas leaks. I shut the gas valve to the dryer anytime I am not using it.

Gas all the way.. it heats up faster and is cheaper (energy cost wise).

Yup, gas for us. I hate the smell of electricity fried metal I do have a couple of plug-in gas leak and CO monitors in our tiny laundry room, behind the dryer.
