We are looking at relocating to Houston from Kansas City. We were down to visit and have narrowed our possible neighborhoods to Cinco Ranch and possibly Greatwood or The Lakes in Sugarland. I was told that it is very difficult to get kids into the Catholic schools unless you start early with pre-school. Is this true?

Also, I had read that the cost of a year tuition at catholic gradeschools outside the beltway in these areas is around $6k per year. Is that fairly accurate?

I don't know the details, but there is a Catholic high school named Pope John Paul II in Katy right off 99 & Franz. People seem to go far distances to go there.

I don't live there (yet) but have done lots of research. We are moving from Chicago to the Sugar Land area in a few months. $6-$8k seems to be the range in the area. How old are your kids?

Strake Jesuit and St Agnes are both around 13,000 and have large numbers of students from SL and a few from Katy. St Cecilia is around 11,000. There is also a St John Deviney(sp) not sure about costs

There is Regis Academy too for boys, though it's close to 610.

Our kids are 4, 2 and 3 months - so more interested in gradeschool at this point. However, we don't plan to send them to pre-school, so does that eliminate our chances of getting them in for Kindergarten or 1st grade?

Obviously, it will depend on the year and the specific school. If you are set against pre-school, since you have time, your chances of gaining admission will increase if you become a member of parish, again depending upon the school.
