Why don't you say what type of discrimination you are talking about from the beginning?
All employers discriminate against people with criminal background

I think for the hospitals in town, it is about who you know and not really about race. You really have to know someone to get in, especially MD Anderson.

Let's be honest
same way black people abuse the word "racism"
white people abuse the word "discrimination"

I've seen it many times, as soon as they see more minorities in "good jobs" than normal, I guarantee somebody is going to say that there's discrimination.... only based on what they see.

I heard it many times, so don't tell me that it's not true.

That's kind of true about employment in Houston in general

Employment anywhere. An internal referral carries a lot of weight compared to a random applicant at just about any employer

Everybody cries racism if they don't get hired or called for an interview - whether it's real or not. Sometimes people -- you just don't look as good on paper as other candidates. It's not just credentials, it's your resume as the appearance of it. It's your intro letter and how well it's written, or lack of it.

I know this is very true of the medical center.

I actually applied for a position that is still posted as open back in May of this year. I received 2 telephone calls: one from the Premier Staffing staff person to answer some pre-interview questions. The pre-interview went well I guess as my app was forwarded to the hiring Manger. I received a phone call requesting a phone interview. The second contact in the form of a phone interview went fine (as I thought). I fully intended to get a call requesting a 'live' interview since the hiring rep used such language as 'the job entails a lot of what you are doing now I see...' Well, that 3rd phone call never came and eventually received that generic email specifying that I was not selected. Although I am African American, I felt my race had nothing to do with me not getting selected. I guess I just have to try harder, I guess...
