If you pull out rainy days during the summer months, the high is usually 97-98.
Either way, it means a refreshing break from the heat.

The 80's and above are supposed to be from may to oct. Nov to April should be really mild temps
The 90's are really from May through September/October and 80's begin in April (half the time March) and end in November. You can look back to 2008 on the NWS website and find this to be true. So summer as northerners would have it (80+) lasts 7-8 months.

If you go to this site you select "preliminary monthly data" and also select "archived data" to get to the month and year in question for Bush Intercontinental (Houston's official weather station).

Shows you how desperate people have become when they call 94 degrees refreshing

I understand but when the first half of the month is in the 70's and 60's and the last half of the month is in the 80's is when I feel like summer has really started (or the opposite for ending). I'm actually one of those that when the first time I feel an 80 I'm like "Ah, sh**! There goes my so called winter..." You always have to dissect any average to get a true picture.

We don't have winter in Houston, maybe a day or two of cool weather, if we're lucky. Summer last wayyyyyyyyyyyy too long. It will be a little better in Nov and Dec, but not cold

I was thinking this would be a good name for an NHL Hockey team which we'll never get. Don't care about Miami.

It's basically two 6-month seasons in Houston. May-October (hot and humid). November-April (cooler and nice).

Hang tight...in a month we will have nicer weather that will stick around until early May.

Honestly, Nov and December can be rainy and cold but not the cold you are thinking. 30's - 50's are the range. The rest of the year is summer, hot, hot and more hot, with two weeks of fall in mid October and one week of spring in April.

January-February tend to be the coldest months we have. December can be anywhere from 40 to 80 degrees with more probably 60-ish days on average.

People tend to adapt to the climate they live in -- as a native Houstonian -- hot summer is my favorite time of the year (but I'm in a freezing hi-rise all day long too -- so I have to get out just to "thaw"). I've adapted to our temps and honestly cannot tolerate the cold at all -- once I get chilled, I never warm up so cold weather (doesn't have to be extreme cold either). I am happiest with temps no lower than 80 -- I used to think I was odd but realized that I've just adapted to my climate.
