I went to Chuy's Mexican Restaurant (feeder I-10) last night and it was the Worst Mexican food I have ever had! Why would a Mexican restaurant serve Taco's al carbon with no Chile con queso?? Hello?? Then I order a frozen sangria margarita and get something that resembled grape juice in a wine glass. I consider myself a "food critic" and down with Chuy's, I will continue my search for real authentic Mexican food in Katy. The search is on.

why would you want chile con queso on tacos al carbon?

that is neither tex mex nor mexican food

and a frozen sangria margarita... that is neither a margarita nor a sangria and things are always better on the rocks, not frozen

If you were a true food critic you would have known beforehand that Chuy's is Tex-Mex and NOT authentic Mexican food.
There are few if any AUTHENTIC Mexican food places in Katy.
You'll probably have to go into the city (in a predominantly Hispanic area) to find authentic Mexican food.
I do agree that the food at Chuy's is very overrated.
If you want better tasting Tex-Mex, you might want to try Lupe Tortillas.

generic chain tex mex varies at location. the lupe tortilla near monstrose sucks while the chuy's is much better. best to stay away from restaurants like that unless you need to please a large group of people. this is houston. there is a plethora of authentic great eats

chuy's is all about the creamy cilantro dip. I don't need anything else. Just give me my own bowl of that little slice of heaven and a basket of chips!

I always embarrass myself by asking for 3 or 4 extra bowls of their salsa when I sit down -- and then quickly inhaling them all.

I always mean to try other places, but whenever I do I get pissed off that I wasted another chance to eat at Chuy's -- best salsa in town.

Oh yeah, creamy cilantro dip is sooo good. I eat Tacos Al Carbon with only a little hot salsa and some cilantro. Margaritas should be on the rocks only as far as I'm concerned.

notice that was the OP's first post. I suspect their bridge is unguarded as we speak.

Seriously that dip is so good I could just fill up on that and leave.
I think they sell that dip by itself.
I'm thinking of buying a few jars of the stuff.
