I am in the process of planning to move my Family to houston but to reside in the Katy area. Being that we are unfamiliar with texas we would like to rent before we purchase. What is the best area in katy to live in? I have read good and bad things about the apartment complexes. Which one would you say is the best to live in with two small children? My son is 8yrs and will be going to third grade once we move, what is the best school in katy for him? Can anyone tell me anything about Cinco Ranch? Thanks!

Hello, I'm newer to the area myself, but if you're moving to work downtown and will live in Katy area, you need to evaluate the traffic. It can be horrific as I was stuck in 1.5hrs traffic to go 10 miles toward the Katy area at 5pm and that lasted between 5-8. I was also told that was the norm because of all the people going to Katy. I've found a lot of people here work altered schedules, like come in at 10 and leave at 6 or 7 because of the traffic. It might be better to check out appartments near the medical center or closer to where you'll work if the issue of traffic does result.

Get a place in "Old Katy" for the same price of an apartment you can get a nice little house. I can refer you to people that have homes for rent. Old Katy is a beautiful place to live. The traffic, if you put your tires on I-10 before 6 a.m. Smooth sailing. 6:15 it can start getting busy. 6:30-7:00 plan on a lot of traffic.
