Yeah, I think La Marque ISD has a worse reputation than Galveston ISD.

Anyway, historically schools in west Galveston were more prestigious and had a more affluent student body than schools in east Galveston.

Thanks. I have a 15 yr old son who is autistic, so he would be in special ed. Have things changed much in Galveston since the hurricane or is it still pretty ghetto?

I was walking in the neighborhood behind the seawall, it was run down as hell in some places but never felt like I was in the ghetto. Walked a mile or so trying to find my car. Would be so great to see the island thrive.

It is run down. Lots of cool stuff there, however. I would love to see it return to prominence also. I still think Galveston could become a smaller version of Charleston SC.
