Hello fellow Houstanians I accepted a job offer in Texas City. I'm currently in New Jersey and will be looking to find a place to rent for me and my family soon. My wife will be relocating her job to Bush Inter. Cont. Airport. My question is " what the best place to rent where the commute between Bush airport and Texas City is a even split? Also how far of a drive is Texas city from Houston? My wife really liked the woodlands but i"m sure its wayyyy off from Texas City and the commute would kill me.

Thanks in advance guys.

Look at Clear Lake City or Seabrook or Friendswood assuming schools matter and assuming a home price range. Schools in Clear Lake and Friendswood are excellent, probably same in Seabrook but not sure so check it out

texas city - Google Maps

66 Miles between TX City and IAH...I refuse to call it Bush International Airprort. I was a Continental Flight Attendant back when it was proudly called IAH!

I would try Pearland area... however you slice and dice it that is a long haul in very heavy traffic!

Another option to consider is an area just north of DT. It is closer to halfway than Pearland or CLC etc I mentioned before. I dont recall what the area is called but a lot of new condos in that area althought I think they are higher $ given the proximity to CBD etc.

I would suggest somewhere like Deer Park. Wife can take Beltway 8 to the airport and you can go Higheay 146 to Texas City. It is the best halfway point.

LOL, I call it IAH too.

and you are right, the two job centers are so far away that the traffic is going to be horrible for both.

I would not choose Pearland. It has bad traffic in all directions. Getting to IAH from Pearland means Killer 288 traffic and getting to Texas City from there isn't a cake walk either.

I dunno, this is the worst way to experience Houston. You guys are going to be working at polar opposites of each other.

59 North from downtown isn't that bad a reverse commute so the midtown, near town areas may be another option. The commute to Texas City would be longer but still not half as bad as living in the Woodlands and commuting from there.

Yikes. Someone needs a new job. Definitely "polar opposites of each other".

Wow Texas City and IAH. That's quite a commute no matter how you slice it! Yeah The Woodlands to Texas City would be horrendous.
