OP question was about Seattle moving to Houston. How did we end up with a Houston/Austin string of posts when that isnt the question asked. Plenty to discuss in Seattle to Houston without getting Austin talk too.

I agree Seattle and Houston are very different. A big part of what you will find is what you look for... look for the positives in a new city and you will be surprised how often you find it even with a move involving these very different cities.

Does Houston get tornados? I just saw a video of Dallas tornado.

Houston has had tornadoes but it is not up in Tornado Alley as Dallas is---or at least borders. The tornados this week were extreme even for Dallas. In Houston you are more likely to get a hurricane or tropical storm which will give you ample time to prepare. As we saw last year bad weather can strike anywhere in the US so don't let one bad day 4 hours away from Houston scare you.
