Hi guys. I'll be moving to Houston from Los Angeles soon, and I'm looking for an apartment. I'd like to know what's the most fun part of Houston to live in e.g. centrally located with access to many bars, clubs, shopping areas, live music places, etc. I'm young and will be making about 45-50k a year, but will be splitting rent with a roommate. I'm not very picky when it comes to the actual apartment itself, location is the most important to me.

Thanks in advance!

Edited to add: I've heard good things about Montrose... would this be a good choice?

What kind of apartment can I expect if I choose to live in Montrose? I've done some searching on Craigslist, but it's not terribly informative and I'm not in Houston in person yet. Should I expect a small loft, 2 bdr, or what?

Thanks for the info (:

What's your price range? Expect to pay upwards of $850 for a one bedroom in Montrose/Rice Military. For something fairly nice, you're probably looking at more than $1000 (parking, washer/dryer included).

I'll be looking for a 2bdr probably, since I'll have a roommate. $850-1000 sounds reasonable for all of that to me, honestly, especially compared to LA.
