The police busted the prior renters w/6 lbs of marijuana and towed off a lot of vehicles...too many new high-end vehicles for the ages of the people that were living there...not sure if there were stolen or what. The generator has to go tho...no sleep is wearing on my children and I.

If the property owner is fighting a fine from the power company it could take 3 to 6 months for them to get power. If you can I would suggest moving ASAP

I would imagine what you have is squatters

you need to find out from the police what the names are of the people living there and see if they match up to the names on HCAD if not most likely you have squatters that are friends of the previous owners

you need to see if you can find out of there is a mortgage on the property as well and who the lender is and see if they know there are people living there

unfortunately even if they are squatters the cops will most likely not get involved unless the people that actually own the house or own the mortgage on the house file charges otherwise they will look at it like a "civil" matter that they can't enforce because they have no proof that the people living there are not allowed to be there

if it was me I would be stealing their generator the first chance I got and or smashing it until it was unrepairable and I would probably take the opportunity to bust out their water meter as well

of course "people" like this would probably just steal a new generator and they probably drink only beer or four loko and don't cook or bath so water is not an issue as well....they would probably not even know it is off until the toilet did not flush.....and hey the yard works for that too right

these are the times when many people are thankful for a HOA

It's a rental property, have already checked HCAD and the mailing and property address for the owner are the same which is the address next door to me. The property was set for public sale 7/3/12 for default on the mortgage but the owner was able to pay-up before the sale date. I happen to be on the board of our HOA and we've been working w/the city on a number of issues in the neighborhood. One of our contacts w/the city is checking w/the water department today because if the water is not on it is a health issue and will get more attention. I have asked to borrow a gun to shoot the generator...LOL...but no one has given me one yet.
