Quick update:

I just talked to:
=========
Robert S Rexford CFP
Rexford Capital
5420 Braeburn Dr Bellaire, TX 77401
p. 713-838-8383
t. 800-838-5583
f. 713-838-8484

Rexford Capital Wealth Management

He seem to be an elderly man with a traditional approach to managing portfolios: active management, investing more in equities. He seem to have less experience and trust in emerging markets/BRICS.

=========
Tom Posey
Posey Capital Management Inc.
Fee-Only Comprehensive Financial Planning and Portfolio Management
2415 Sunset Boulevard
Houston, TX 77005
713-490-7000
fax: 281-754-4415
www.poseycapital.com

I personally did not like the guy. He pushed to meet in person not offering anything in return. He did not provide any disclosures/info on their business.

As you know, brokers push investors to buy their products. CFP are supposed to have a "fiduciary duty" and represent your interest, However they work you the other way: they try to get you into an "active management" of your portfolio, in other words they try to speculate/risk with your money and at your expense. But historically, indexes performed better than "active management".

When selecting a CFP, ask them the questions below. And have their answers in writing.

CFP questionnaire

1. What experience do you have?
2. What are your qualifications?
3. What services do you offer?
4. What is your approach to financial planning?
5. Will you be the only person working with me?
6. How will I pay for your services?
7. How much do you typically charge?
8. How are you getting paid? Fees or commissions? If fees - hourly, per visit, per a series of visits. What is your fee rate?
9. Do you have any fee-splitting relationships with brokerage firms, etc? I will need it in written.
10. Please provide (disciplinary) records with NASAA/NAPFA. There is a NASD hotline 1800 289-9999.
11. Do you promote any market products? Does your firm emphasize your products over products of other companies?
12. Please provide details on your expertise in the finance area/resume/fact sheet. I would need the same for a firm (managed assets, customer count, average asset size, etc.).
13. Could anyone besides me benefit from your recommendations? Describe.
14. Have you ever been publicly disciplined for any unlawful or unethical actions in your professional career?
15. Can I have it in writing?
