Hello my family will be moving to Tx. Our office is located in La Porte. We like to find a nice city with good schools, and things for the kids to do. I do know someone in League City, but that seems far to drive for work. We are coming from a small town 60,000 where you can get just about anywhere in 15-20 minutes. I know change is inevitable but I would like a 30 min or under commute between home and La Porte. Am I going to have to expand my commute time to find a nice area? Looking fwd to your suggestions

Hi. It will all really depend on your budget. But you can stay in La Porte, but also look into Clear Lake City which isn't too far away. The area of Bay Area Blvd and 45 will have all the shopping that you will want

I don't want to live in La Porte I know that for sure. We are looking at 3 or 4 bedroom 2.5 bath max 200,000

You can also try 77505 in Pasadena. But I think you would probably like the Clear Lake area. Unless you really want to drive 45 minutes to the other suburbs. But Clear Lake, League City, and Friendswood, should all offer what you need at the price you want.

Can anyone offer more specifics about clear lake, league city, friendswood, such as neighborhoods/schools. How common are homes with pools, or neighborhood pools?

Clear lake try bay point bay knoll northfork. Deer park has good schools but may still be a bit too close To industry for you. I know a restaurant manager in Deer Park who told me that out of all of the places he has worked Deer Park has been the best in terms of how good the families are and the kids they hire. He Commented that family values are very strong in that small city and it makes for very good teens.

The East Side of League City is not far from LaPorte at all. I used to live in that part, and in 30 minutes up highway 146 I was at interstate 10 (with no traffic). That's a real easy drive although traffic can pile up a bit. League City has the most 'new' neighborhoods, and almost all of them, at least those I know of, have some form of community pools. There's too many to list. League City has just opened 2 new 5A high schools, which is the largest enrollment division in Texas. It's growing pretty fast.

Friendswood is great if you want a small town feel and lowest crime rate on this side of town. The schools there are highly regarded.

But really Clear Lake is your best option with the proximity to LaPorte and the great school district.
