the hubby was contacted regarding a IT job in this location.
So could someone please give me some information on rentals in the area?

If you have kids, it would be better to live in Deer Park or Clear Lake school districts. LaPorte has serious school problems (i.e. management issues not necessarily kids). Check HAR.com for rentals in those areas. If you do decide on LaPorte, stay west of 146 if possible.
