Not always, in some places if their primary source of income is from alcoholic beverages some laws state that the places may only allow people 21+

Then how can you become a bartender at 18? These antiquated Texas laws intended to govern the morality of its people are bass-ackwards. It's time to accept that not everybody is going to attend church on Sunday mornings. Some of us like to drink then instead.

Not sure about Texas, but in Arkansas, you have to be 21 to be inside a place that allows smoking. Public places, in some states, can opt out of the no-smoking laws, but if they opt out, cannot allow anyone under 21 inside.

That might be the case in your pool hall.

It is still a bowling alley and if you can get in and bowl you should be allowed to partake in the other offerings of the establishment, like pool. Besides, you pretty much have the same access to obtain a drink illegally whether bowling or shooting pool, except the pool tables might be closer to the bar. Even then, it is up to AMF to do their job and check for IDs not turn customers away.

However, it seems as if the 21 year age is due to them stereotyping today's youth and assuming you will tear the tables and cues up and less to do with the drinking laws.

You can be 18 and up going in bars and clubs unless that place states 21 and up. Unless you are with your parents. When I went to las Vegas 15 years ago I couldn't go upstairs in Game Works because you had to be 21 and up to play pool.

False. You can be a bartender and serve drinks at 18.

Source: I've consulted many restaurants in Texas and personally know 18 year old bartenders.

Not in Texas. And besides the post I quoted was not talking about specific places.
